How To Spot The Top MLM/Network Marketing Lies

by John Zehr on March 10, 2010

I promise to the the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I’m am not a Network Marketing success story. I’m not living on Easy Street, cashing fat residual checks.

Not yet, at least. :-)
Like millions of others, I’m actively involved in network marketing, or MLM. I have complete confidence that it will allow me to retire comfortably in the next 1 to 3 years.

This is not to say I’ll drive a new Jaguar every year or that a Hollywood producer will want to use my dream mansion to film movies. I DO believe I’ll have more than enough to pay my bills, enjoy my life, friends, and hobbies, and I’ll be able to pay for three teenagers college tuition.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that there’s an almost sadistic tendency on the part of Network Marketers to talk about living the American Dream as if that includes being filthy rich and being highly materialistic. Don’t get me wrong. I LIKE material goods. I LIKE “toys”. But it doesn’t define who I AM.

“Financial freedom” is a great sales pitch and buzzword, but here are lots of other reasons why people get involved in MLM. If you want to build a healthy residual income, you should consider that

…the average per capita income in the US is about $25,000. If they are approached with the opportunity to make TEN TIMES that much, they’ll know that something is wrong.

…most people are not type-A personalities who have boundless energy and enthusiasm about changing their lives. They have jobs, kids, and other concerns. They can only take on new tasks a little at a time.

…78% of all network marketers have never run a business before. The responsibilities of bookkeeping and self-motivation can be intimidating.

I recently attended an opportunity meeting I’ll never forget. The presenter was a schmaltzy, oily, snake of a guy who was intent on telling the attendees how easy it is to make $60,000 per month in his business. (I bet he’s never made over $60,000 per YEAR!) He did all the same things he saw his sponsor do–drawing circles, smiling real big, using all the right words–and he had some of these poor folks halfway convinced they could do the same thing. (The rest of them were thinking about what they were going to have for dinner and who was going to play in the SuperBowl.)

The outcome was predictable. I’ve seen it time and time again: 90% of the audience would go home, eat dinner, and talk about how they’d wasted their evening listening to a Scam Artist. 10% of them would sign up on the spot and of that 10%, 90% would never make a penny in that business. This is why MLM has a questionable reputation.

Wouldn’t it be refreshing to hear someone tell the TRUTH at opportunity meetings? Wouldn’t it be great to hear someone say,

“the truth is that you won’t make much money for six months, maybe longer. Any money you make you’ll put back into your business. This really is a BUSINESS, after all. You’re going to go through a period of learning new skills for a while and my job is to help you through the tough parts. If you do the things that are proven to work you can build a full-time residual income in months or less. Once you do that, you won’t have to worry about losing your job, ever again.”

If you were interested in my business-building system, I’d tell you the truth. I think you’d respect me for it.

Network building requires a focused commitment over a long period of time. The truth is that there are a few opportunities where you can make some money right away, but they never last more than a few months. If building a business was easy, everyone would do it.

Do yourself and your sponsor a favor: find out everything you can about his business before you sign on the dotted line. Life is too short to waste it on pipe dreams and fool’s errands. Ask the hard questions. Find out what kind of training they offer. Ask what kind of systems they have in place to ensure that you’ll be able to succeed. You’ll be doing everyone a favor!

Network marketing is a tremendous marketing technology. Word of mouth is far more effective than paid advertising. That’s why some MLMs are so successful. If you’re looking at companies to join, make sure they have the training and recruiting systems in place to ensure that you can get through your first few month. Being a business owner isn’t for everyone and you need to know the facts so you can make a wise decision.

If you love the idea of residual income and network marketing, You should take a look at “MLSP”, the generic (suitable for any company) training video system. Enhance your chance for MLM success! Grab a totally unique version of this article from the Uber Article Directory
